I don’t remember if I have told this story or not, so I hope you will indulge me as I tell it again.
I do confess to loving “As Seen on TV” products. They offer a money back guarantee so how can you go wrong!?! Several years ago, I decided to try the Bark Off. It is a high pitched sound emanating from an electronic device, that is supposed to trigger when your dog barks. It is supposed to be irritating to the dog, causing it to stop barking. We had three dogs inside at the time, and they barked like crazy every time someone arrived. Truthfully, I think we could have saved money on the alarm system if we had had the dogs when be built the house and installed alarms. But, I digress… To be honest, I plugged it in and sort of forgot about it. I did not really notice a difference in the dogs, but we were going to give it that good old college try! “Calvin” was away at school at the time but would come home on an occasional evening and grace us with his presence and regale us with his stories! (How’s that for some embellishment?!) He would even offer to help with the dishes after dinner when he visited. (He really is good about that.) One evening while he was doing dishes during a visit, he kept complaining about hearing a weird noise. He tried to pinpoint it and get the rest of us to hear it. We thought he had lost it, too much pressure from school. He finally moved away from the sink and located the source of the noise. It was the Bark Off. So, my adult son was negatively impacted by this device, but not the dogs. Hmmmm. The story came up last evening as we were talking about one of the dogs leaving the yard regularly and having to hunt for him. A neighbor recommended that we try a device that is like an invisible fence without having to install the fence. I asked The Ninja to check it out for me, because I didn’t want another device like the Bark Off that did not work. Pook immediately chimed in with, “Yea, we wouldn’t want Calvin to visit and then not be able to leave the yard.” They have memories like elephants and never forget. By the way, I did get my money back on the Bark Off. Told you that you can’t go wrong. Have a blessed day, and put a smile on. Taking yourself too seriously never helps.
