Well I was planning on making the next introduction of one of our kids, but Sake’s second baby came a few days early and I find myself at her home babysitting the “Big Sister”.
It does bring back memories! My biggest piece of advice to any mother to be headed into labor and delivery is this: Don’t be a hero! The epidural is the greatest medical anesthetic created! I can remember fighting to not get one when Sake was born. Not my brightest move. I was going to be the greatest mom from Day 1 and go “natural”. It lasted until the first contractions hit while receiving Pitocin. I got smart fast and actually enjoyed the rest of labor and delivery pain free! I was less stressed, which meant the baby was less stressed. Oh and did I mention that my husband felt much better too?! I swear, men would never survive! I may be crazy enough to give birth six times – but only because the pain part was left out! Seriously, some people do all right with the “natural” thing, but if it isn’t for you, that’s okay. You are no less of a mom if you choose to get medication. Welcome with love to my third granddaughter/grandchild who has been dubbed JR. by her uncles. God help us as you celebrate your birthday 21years from now on St. Patrick’s Day!
